Start with what changed

A useful corporate story usually contains a change: a new service, a customer outcome, a business decision, an investment or a lesson. Lead with that rather than a long company description.

Use specific language

Words such as ‘innovative’, ‘leading’ and ‘world-class’ mean very little without proof. Replace them with facts, examples and clear outcomes wherever possible.

Put people into the story

Businesses act through people. A customer, employee, founder or subject expert can often make the reason behind a corporate story easier to understand.

Write for the reader

The organisation may care about its internal process, but the audience cares about what the story means to them. Good writing makes that connection quickly.
